Qantas confirms orders for the new B789'S

Qantas CEO Allan Joyce has come out saying the remaining Boeing 747-438 fleet will be replaced by the new Boeing 787-938 aircraft as early as 2017. The first of the new twin jets will operate out of YBBN/BNE as QFA15 & QFA16 to KLAX replacing the 747 service this will spread over the network of Qantas and only six Boeing 747's will remain in the fleet (www.flightglobal.com) More...

I suppose they have to get rid of there well used rusted fleet some day. I have seen the state of there 747's at KVCV from under there cargo holds how they managed to keep these big things flying and adding parts to them has go me puzzled in there condition there in. I do know for a fact the really run them into the ground until they are chopped up as did Ansett Australia many years ago.

Good choice of aircraft they went for. But they should have opted the B777X as well

How long and how many times are we going to hear about this. This was announced week before last and this is the 3rd or 4th time that a story about it of some type has been posted.
