Why has the flight density decreased on Flightaware activity maps

Submitted
If you look at any map of flights across the country, the density of current airborne flights has dropped recently unless you zoom way in. What is the reason for this? It's not helpful to see how thunderstorms are affecting flights if you can't tell how many flights there area. There are 1/3-1/2 the number of planes flying as this time last year, why would Flightaware choose to do this now? Please restore the normal density. Thank you. (flightaware.com) More...

You don't think it is because the airlines are flying about half as much as this time last year?
