PlanePlotter Sharing Setup for FlightAware

Share your PlanePlotter Mode S/ADS-B on FlightAware!

PlanePlotter is a Windows program that receives and decodes live data from aircraft. It supports a wide variety of ADS-B receivers including Kinetic SBS-1 and SBS-3, AirNav Systems RadarBox, Mode-S Beast, RTL SDR dongles, RxControl Mode-S receiver, PlaneGadget Radar, miniADSB, and microADSB.

PlanePlotter users can simultaneously use the PlanePlotter application to track flights via a receiver, share bi-directionally with the PlanePlotter private network, and send flight data to FlightAware. Users that share data with FlightAware automatically qualify for a free upgrade to an Enterprise Account.

To share your data on FlightAware, you will need to be using a paid, registered version of PlanePlotter, which FlightAware will provide to you for free by request if you do not already have one.

Instructions

Sharing your data via PlanePlotter is easy:

  1. Open PlanePlotter
  2. Click Options, then Sharing, then Setup.
    1. Check the Enable sharing to FlightAware.
    2. Change the cycle time to "20" and then click OK
  3. Click Options, then Sharing, then Enable (if it's not checked already).
  4. Press the green button in the upper left of PlanePlotter to begin processing live data.
  5. You can now register your receiver with FlightAware and within 15 minutes, your receiver will show up on the statistics and coverage pages.
