Good for everyone involved.. Budapest is a beautiful city but is a bit off the beaten path for most.

Yes, after the demise of Malev, there have been no direct, non-stops from BUD to anywhere in the US.
And yes, Budapest is a very beautiful and historic city. Well worth visiting even if "off the beaten path"> Some folks actually like that about countries and cities.
