12 South African Cheetah fighters sold to US as training jets

South African state-owned arms manufacturer Denel has announced that it will sell 12 SA-designed supersonic Cheetah fighter jets to US-based Draken International. It is easy to infer from the headline that the purchase was made to the US government rather than a private company. The company appears to provide the US government with opposing force aircraft against to train.

The U.S Navy did the same thing in the 80's or 90's they bought a bunch of F-21 Kfir's For aggressor squadrons.
