My wife and I were on that flight - seats 34JK on the right side. I got some good video before and after of the area that was hit by the lightning. We saw the flash and heard the crack of the strike. The flight crew had no indication of the hit. The flight was diverted to Cyprus because TLV closed down for 3 hrs due to severe weather (heavy rains and wind) At Cyprus the call was made to send a fresh 787 with inspectors to take the passengers on the TLV the next morning. One of the pilots told me that it "looks like there was no sign of structural damage and the soot wiped off easily". Congrats to Air Canada for putting safety first. Cyprus was an unexpected trip, but it turned out to be a great adventure for us. I would like to hear the final outcome and if it was just a little paint scarring.
