United Airlines captain aborts transatlantic journey; diverts plane to Heathrow for additional de-icing
Ninety minutes after taking off from Brussels pilot decides he is not satisfied with de-icing. (www.dailymail.co.uk) More...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Next we will learn it was crickets swarming over the Sahara....the real cause!
Yep, i bet this was an anti-ice valve issue or something similar - not DE-icing issue.
Ice sublimates above 250kt. To take off, climb, and cruise for 90 minutes would remove any amount of residual ice left by a bad de-ice job. United is hiding something, landing because of ice is BS. Shame on United for lying.

seems to indicate diversion was to KBOS rather than EGGL. Potayto, Potahto

If the flight in question diverted due to de-icing, then the Earth is flat! The real reason will soon be uncovered. What makes me mad about this is United's pilot and or their PR arm thinks the public are idiots.
Sounds like something more mundane like an incapacitated crew member.

Well, it may not be either one. It may be the reporter as ChuckMe has stated here below. At any rate, I expect we have heard all about this that we are going to.
