Qatar Airways to Replace Airbus A380s with Boeing 777Xs

In an exclusive sit-down interview with Qatar Airways CEO Mr Al Baker in Doha, the State of Qatar, Al Baker told Aviation Analyst that the airline is planning to retire its A380 jets over the coming years. “For the A380s, on the 10thanniversary, we will retire them,” said Al Baker. Yes the 777 is a great aircraft. I just wish it had 2 more engines whenever I'm flying 17 hours across the Pacific from Australia to the US.

I used to feel that way too. Just as my grandmother learned to fly to Hawaii on a Connie instead of a "much safer ship" I learned with the 77 that two pilots and two engines was as safe as three pilots and four engines to Sydney.

And Boeing comes out on top again lol. The 777 is a excellent aircraft.

Soooo....it seems oil at $50 is not bringing in enough cash to support the A380. The 777X will produce profits on their routes, while flying higher and faster.
