Cessna Commuter (N18040)
This is what's left of the tie-down rope in the anchor on the upwind side of the airplane. Apparently, the rope had become sufficiently weakened over a period of time that it was the first to gave way. The other two ropes subsequently snapped where they were attached to the airplane. Two other airplanes tied down next to 18040 survived without any problem. This serves as a warning to check your tie-down ropes regularly and replace them before they are too old.
