The "Denver" refers to Buckley Naval Air Station, which was the highest naval base in the world and the one farthest from water at the time. It is now named "Front Range Airport.."

Did not know that history Paul.....
Thanks for sharing.

Paul, having lived across from Buckley in the mid to late 2000's it was called Buckley Air Reserve Base and was still quite active with USAF and Navy. My brother-in-law was stationed there where he tracked satellites. Front Range Airport is close to DIA but I believe it is now closed.

Buckley was initially a Naval Air Station.

Front Range is still open & quite Active, despite being only six miles from DIA.

Paul, Buckley was never "Front Range Airport." Front Range Airport was created just outside Watkins, Colorado, southeast of the present Denver International Airport. Front Range predated DIA by some eleven years. It is still very much alive & well, having been renamed Colorado Air and Space Port (ICAO IF: KCFO, formerly KFTG).

Buckley ARB/AFB (originally Buckley NAS, nee-Buckley Army Airfield) is still very much alive and is now Buckley Space Force Base (ICAO: KBKF), NOT to be confused with the former FTG airport.
