I saw and photographed an all white Argosy at Elmendorf AFB, AK in 1975. Always thought the engines looked a little small for their task, but they worked.

Scrapped in 1990 with close to 18,000 cycles. Would like to have seen it fly. Thanks for the post.

These used to land at Turner Field with freight '59-'60. Can't remember the name of the carrier. The props would all stop spinning at the same (long) time on power down. What precision. Talked to an RAF loadmaster in Aden who said there is no weight and balance form for the Argosy, just throw everything in and tie down anywhere. Within reason I suppose.

I believe it was an Argosy that flew in and out of old Bunker Hill a.f.b. back in the 60's dropping supplies for when the B-58 program was in full swing. Can't mistake the sound of those engines!
