That monster has been flown since the late 70s, primarily by old WARSAW Pact nations. Most recently Russia and Ukraine have been using them. Heavily armoured, chin cannon, underwing pylons can arm it like an airborne tank, ans a couple of squards of commandos ride behind the pilot and gunner. In the 80s US-supplied Stingers dropped many in Afganistan, but an even greater number are falling to manpads across Ukraine since a year ago.I'd never want to see one coming headon, sparkling under the nose.

The Army had a Hind D down at Ft. Polk (Johnson) at the Joint Readiness Training Center back in the 80s/90s. Don't know if it's still flying. Nothing like seeing the silhouette of this bird coming at you.
