Early morning. Qantas B738 VH-VZG on QF670 to Melbourne leads B738 VH-XZC on QF730 to Sydney for Rw 05 departure from Foxtrot 5. Yep, out practicing shooting in the dark.

Primo capture, Gavin. Getting clicks in the darkness, especially shots taken at a distance away, is a challenge and you did an outstanding job here. When out at night, I always cross my fingers that the empennages will be illuminated but it doesn't always happen. Southwest is usually lit up as is American, but UA is about a 50-50 possibility and Delta's tail is lit maybe 25% of the time. And I try to avoid being backlit by the terminal and apron lights so as not to end up with a "shadowed" side facing me. You did very well here catching the available lighting. 5 Bravos.

Thanks Gary. Pics in the dark are always a juggling act. We have virtually zero ambient light on the eastern side from where this was taken and I usually have to contend with terminal lights BUT, sometimes it can work with the terminal. Got QF B738 of interest to consider posting. Also, with lighted empennages, one of the two above was lights out on climb, the other remained on - go figure.
