71-1392 — - 90th TFS, 3rd TFW with eight F-4Es were deployed from Clarke AB, Philippines to RAAF Base Pearce October 1978-November 10978. While they were here they carried out dissimilar Air Combat Exercises with A-4Gs from 805 NAS. The aircraft carried a variety of under wing ECM depending on the sortie flown. We were asked not to "zap" the ECM gear, the external tank surface was the popular choice for the "zaps" also just behind the intake lips.

Was it common to taxi with the drag chute still attached or was it normally released after the canopies were opened?
Chris Croft
Depending on the congestion of the AFB/NAS most a/c that use chutes taxi right up to their squadrons ramp and ground crews will secure the chute after engine shut down.
