Lockheed L-1011 TriStar (G-BBAJ)
Comments
Prior to going into service with B. Airtours in the early/mid 1970's, the pilots used EGCC Manchester as one of the airports for 'conversion to type' training. The flight path for Rwy 24 (now 23R) was (and still is) directly over the town centre of Stockport. I recall people stopping in the street to look up at them on final approach, particularly at night, because they had something spectacular - called strobe lights, which no-one had never seen before.
