Arriving from Kansas City (KMCI), Eastern's N700KW has just touched down on 16R.

This noon hour arrival at RNO was the second half of back-to-back Eastern traffic on 16R. As this shot of N700KW landing was being snapped, Eastern's N705KW was climbing past Mt Rose after having just lifted away from the same runway on a trip to KLAN (Lansing, Michigan).

Both EAL heavies were transporting US Marines.

The Eastern Airlines I used to know closed up shop years ago. Is this the new re-birth of Eastern Airlines?

Thanx, Darryl. (Wave)
George >> Actually, this is the second "rebirth' of Eastern. (Note the well known EAL logo on the top part of the tail.) The first rebirth was several years ago. That time the new fleet came out with the same hockey stick livery in the same colors as EAL was wearing when Lorenzo took over and raped the company into bankruptcy. That new Eastern tried to make a "go' of it as a charter company, although when air service between Florida and Cuba resumed that Eastern company did run a regular flight back and forth. But the service was unprofitable and that new Eastern (which had purchased a couple of new B737s right out of the factory and then couldn't pay them off), folded and its new B737s went to Swift (which still has one flying in the EAL paint but new titles).. So now what you are seeing above is the second "restart' of Eastern. It has several B763s, including one that wears the New England Patriots Super Bowls special livery and a second one that wears NE Patriots colors but no SB trophies on the tail.

Great comments Gary, which nicely put things into context. Thanks for this!

Very nice snap, man! With Air Lingus A333 flying into Omaha today to pick up the Nebraska Cornhuskers to Dublin for the Week 0 CFB game against Northwestern brings upon us charter season once again which is one of if not my favorite seasons, charter season.
