Lockheed P-3 Orion (16-3294) - KRDD - super rare at Redding, CA "Bloodhound 303" I just happened to leave for break late about 11:40am today 6/19/2018 and arriving from the south was a PSA .....err I mean US Navy P-3C on a very short right base final for Runway 34 smokin a la 1967 at San Jose from Orange County. But it was Bloodhound 303 from Pt. Mugu NAS on an Air Test and Evaluation with Squadron 30 deciding to drop in to quiet Redding, CA and thank you. The crew of 5? was walking into the Redding Airport FBO (Redding Jet center) when I pulled up for a few pictures of this P-3C its been many years since Ive seen a P-3C in the air - I could not believe my luck, as I knew I did not have a chip in the camera in the car......but a nice electrical engineer had an extra chip on his desk and I was off to the airport soon after for lunch. Good thing, as they were gone when I left work at 330pm.

Now this crew of 5 (out of Point Mugu NAS) paid a lot of attention to their perfect prop detail, before heading in for lunch at the Redding Jet Center FBO CA. Superb! And it looks like T/O flap for departure is already set.

When I think of professionalism and excellence in Naval Aviation, the P-3 community has always stood out. These Hunters of subs (Orion) have never really been acknowledged for the critical mission they have performed for decades. Tail hook aircraft get all the press and glory. P-3 crews are out there every day and night watching out for us.
