This one too is not an actual "Grumman G-44" but a French-built "copy" of a Grumman G-44A, i.e. a SCAN Type 30 (serial no. 3) with a later Magnum TIO-540 engine conversion. Supposedly the French SCAN Type 30 Widgeons were built to metric standards and were not Type 1 Chromic Acid Anodized for corrosion protection as were the original Grumman-built versions. The French versions are still relatively prevalent because many of them, although originaly built between 1949 and 1952 were soon thereafter disassembled and stored for about 15 years before being re-assembled and issued new certificates of airworthiness in the US in the mid-1960's.
