Cessna 185 s/n 18502199

PK-LIG was purchased from a Lumber Company and recovered from a swamp 55-miles north of Balik Papan, Kalimantan on July 15, 1974. It had been upside down in the swamp for ten weeks when recovered and flown after prop change, to Tarakan, East Kalimantan on July 18, 1974.

Registration was changed to PK-MCJ and flown after October 24, 1974 on regular flights under the ownership of Mission Aviation in Kalimantan for many years.

I have many photos of the recovery process, it took a week to get this 185 out of the jungle and to float it down-river to Samarinda. Flown out of a clearing in the jungle, it was re-registered and flown it to Singapore for repaint and installation of a cargo pod.

It is currently in Anna, Texas registered as N24CJ..
