Buck eighteen.

Very NICE! I am old enough to remember these planes flying over our house enroute to KGRR...a couple miles up the street. Always a treat to watch and hear in flight. We used to sit on our bikes at the end of the runway fence just for the cheap thrill of watching these guys take off. It was a rush before we even knew what a rush was!

Not actually a buck eighteen. This is a DC-6B, the passenger only model. The C-118/R6-D was the DC6-A model with two cargo doors. One forward of the wing, one aft.
Of course you can't see the cargo doors in this shot, they are on the left side of the aircraft. I know this only because I have trained most of the pilots that fly this particular airplane.
