Nothing. Those that have been witnessed doing this jump a fence and climb onto the landing gear after the plane has left the terminal. Obviously a pilot's walk-around is not going to find this, as he is.... in the cockpit taxing the airplane.
I was hoping for a better written article. The most obvious information "How much closer?" was notoriously absent. What passes as journalism these days? An article full of opinions but lacking actual facts?
"It went under the left wing..." Funny. If there was video of this incident, I'd wager that it would show that the "left wing went over the deer." When a jet just touches down, it is still travelling a whole lot faster than a deer can run.
I don't think it is illegal to operate an unmanned arial vehicle as long as one stays out of controlled airspace (i.e. stays in uncontrolled airspace). As long as the club is at least 5 statute miles from an aiport, that should give them 1200 feet above the ground to operate.
Agreed that the car was wrong. However the pilot was not blameless. A close look at that video in slow motion indicates he missed the fence by 2-3 feet. At that distance, NOT hitting the fence is not skill, just dumb luck.
