This seems to be more a coincidence than a "custom-built surveillance technology". Are there any more videos and has anyone confirmed that this was the actual flight number? It's hard to tell for sure, but this "arriving" flight appears to be climbing.
This article is poorly written. It implies that JLENS is to protect DC, but Raytheon says they could be deployed anywhere. As the comments say, DC doesn't seem likely for deploying this system. 700% savings? No such thing. 1/7th the cost would be 86% savings. I'm sure he meant to say the current systems cost 700% more.
The video says it will be limited to shotguns 12 GA or smaller. Any drone low enough to get taken down by a 12GA shotgun deserves to be taken down. It's more likely that a drone hunter will take down their fellow drone hunters by shooting into the sky with a shotgun than it is for them to actually "tag" a drone.
