What is urgently needed are rules that limit operations in emergency areas. Those with a need to provide air support in emergency areas can apply for exemptions. The incidents recently at some California wildfires are examples. With all the air support in wildfire incidents, UAVs operated by private individuals is totally unnecessary.

I totally agree. In fact, I believe that if the people flying the UAVs which interfere with firefighting operations are identified, then everyone who suffered property damage as a result of that interference should be allowed to sue for full compensation. Perhaps the thought of being in debt for the rest of one's life will keep these idiots at bay. Then again, perhaps not.

Young and stupid is part of the human condition. But then again, who knows what theses idiots think. I hope a few are caught and examples made. 20 years of unpaid duty on the fire line would work for me.
