EgyptAir's new Boeing 787 Dreamliner takes off for history-making biofuel flight

Submitted
The EgyptAir 787-9 Dreamliner that took off from Boeing's Everett delivery center made history Tuesday when it embarked on the longest-ever commercial flight powered by biofuel. Two EgyptAir captains shared the duties for the 13-hour flight, joined by a group of 50 people from Cairo, including the airline's two vice chairmen. "It's a special flight because of the biofuel. It's history making and record-breaking," Capt. Abdelhady Mostafa Elshakankiry, who was at the… (www.bizjournals.com) More...

What are the numbers side by side comparing Bio and Jet A-1 for this flight. Cost, fuel weight, fuel used, etc?

This may sound silly however it does happen , what if they fuel the plane with aviation fuel full tank. Would it still fly even thou they use 70/40 Biofuel . silly mix up's do happen with fuel tankers .

Not sure what exactly applies to biofuel, but at least with JET A and JET A-1 fuels, the manufacturers state that you have to have at least three (I think) fill-ups with JET A-1 after filling up with JET A before you can claim that you are using JET A-1 in terms of freezing point and whatnot. Nothing to say that you have to drain the tanks or anything, but you can't be sure that you've purged all the JET A until you put JET A-1 in it a few times. I imagine the same would be true of the biofuel if there were any concerns with freezing point, consumption rates, etc.

DO NOT, disrespect ground crew you plum! 70/40 was very VERY silly thing to say, you've copped a caning for it, you've been laughed at, now just get on with your day - maybe try to restrict those 70/40 ideas to the YouTube comment section in future...
