An aircraft shuts down an engine 30 minutes from an airport.
This is news.
Apparently doesn't happen very often.

Not enough motors. They don't use two engine airplane for extended over water flights because it's safer.

Actually they do. Couple of years back we took a 737 to Hawaii from Vancouver. Apparently the longest over water stretch on the planet.
Amazing reliability when we hear about an engine being shut down and it makes the news.
