I was working for Eastern in Atlanta when we all heard the news and we were immediately shocked. And then to find out later that they weren't going to go look for survivors because of the altitude, we were in amazement. However, I believe they did fly a high altitude helicopter to the crash to search for the aircraft and any remains/survivors. They later came back and confirmed that it was an Eastern jetliner and most likely flight 980. This too holds a special place in my heart and as does all the Eastern crashes. RIP to everyone on board ill-fated Eastern flight 980.
