Houston is the largest hub of StarAlliance partner United, and a major reason AC flies into that airport.

Much of the other commentary about the overlap of Chinese interet and Houston-based technologies, may be true and additional support for the flights through O&D traffic to add to network traffic passing through that hub.

There is only one reason for nonstop from Beijing to Houston. It is not tourism, cultural or sports exchanges. Houston is a one stop shop for oil field and manned spacecraft technology.

China is desperate to dance on the moon, and needs the energy to run an ever expanding economy and increasing standard of living.

China since the revolution has a propensity to invite high technology companies to form joint ventures in China. China get the technology and the partner gets the expenses.

America should not export oil technology. Americans should find and operate the wells without disclosure of the technology, and require the crude be shipped to America for refining. Refined product would be sent back, less a portion for the service.

A win-win situation.

You are using logic and assuming Politicans have brains or think ahead. Our Congress is corrupt and paid off they will never do anything that benefits America or the working man. We must purge Washington DC and start over. Then maybe the above excellent ideas will take hold. With the bunch of clowns we have now in Congress it would be a goat rope.

Same politicians who didn't want a TDWR at Floyd Bennett field in NY (which protects JFK & LGA) because they didn't like the impingement on a view, or the stupid NIMBY California electorate who move next to BUR and then complain about the airplane noise. Nevermind the airport predated them by 70+ years. Rome fell end our future is never promised, or entitled to us as some think.
