I was a Loadmaster out of JFK on their 747's in the early 90's going to Paris weekly, JFK-CDG-YUL-ORD-ORY-JFK, fuel stop in Gandor or Shannon depending on load, sometimes twice a week. We would get the Air France Concord amenity kits and food. Every once in a while we would fly to Bombay with crew rest in Dubai. Flew accross the Atlantic 26 times in one month. Some of the best memories I had sitting in the jumpseat with the great crews.
Evergreen will be missed.

It's been a few years since I visited the museum but even then ('07) it was amazing. I hope they keep it together as a museum. It's a 'destination' attraction worth the trip.

"A FlightAware activity log shows the freighter had hopscotched just since Friday from Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, to Travis to Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, to Osan Air Base, South Korea, to Yokota and back to Travis – and then on to Victorville."

I saw it out my dorm room window parked here at Osan recently. It swung by here regularly, little did I know that was the last time.

As a volunteer at a museum where some of our aircraft have taken a turn for the worse due to lack of interested funding, I hope that if Evergreen should become unable to maintain their museum, that someone else will, because it is a pity to watch such pieces of aviation history slowly deteriorate. I have not had the opportunity to visit Evergreen's museum, but it is on my list, and I want it to be able to keep it that way. Such a pity to lose such a great air cargo company.

I hope the 'lawyers' do not get their grubby hands on these aircraft since they should continue working elsewhere rather than being 'parked' in some desert storage facility.

One question please folks......I once thought that 'Evergreen' had some link to the Taiwanese EVA AIR and the Evergreen shipping line and that there was a business link between them.....am I incorrect with that thought?

To the best of my knowledge, having worked and flown for the company before they sold their DC-8s in the early 90s, there was never any connection between the Chinese company and EIA. The only link if you can call it that was the common name in "Evergreen." I'm only guessing the name chosen by Del was related to the evergreen nature of the Pacific Northwest. In that sense, there's some irony in his having acquired a home there for the "Spruce Goose." Nothing is forever in this life but Evergreen will live on for a while longer in the memories of those of us who had the opportunity to work in the company in an exclusive international operation. I too hope they are able to retain the museum and the goose.

Thank you Paul sir for the info. I was thinking about how EVA AIR and Evergreen Shipping line had at one time the same or very similar 'compass' logo on the funnels or tailplanes etc..the current Eva Air has such a logo me thinks....perhaps someone could shed light here?

Glad I got to visit the Spruce Goose this summer. I did the "VIP" tour that allowed me to sit in the same seat that Howard Hughes piloted the plane from on its only flight. What an amazing moment.

Hopefully, the museum won't be shut down and liquidated.

What a shame! We did three deals at the old Evergreen Air Center in Arizona, and visited the museum in Oregon, which included lunch with Del Smith. Very sad, indeed!

I live about 10 minutes from the Evergreen Air museum in Mcminnville Oregon. Im lucky to see the Spruce Goose daily. When I lived in southern California I would see it sitting outside when we took our boat to Catlina Island fishing. This was a time before the dome was built for her. I know Evergreen has had a few problems paying some contractors in a timely fashion and I heard that the museum may file bank ruptsy but I doubt if its going out of busines. They just made the final payment to California Areo Club, owner of the goose. I know that have been doing alot of construction a chapel and adding more airplanes to their collection. They have done a great job. Today their parking lot was packed with paying visitors. Not bad for the winter season. Come to Oregon to see the Goose and out beautiful coast.

Ah, Evergreen Aviation. The company that brought us Chemtrails!

I'm sorry that my beliefs and opinions differ from yours, but I believe that if your government or mine wanted to do something to you, they would have. If they would have done something could you please describe, as I am oblivious to any aircraft of any kind spraying or myself having been affected by so called "chemtrails". I should also mention that the Cessna Skyhawk I flew the other day was demonstrating the physics of contrails in my current -40 centigrade temperatures.

What if there were a monumental environmental threat that you didn’t even know was happening? What if you found out it is affecting your health and that of people you know and love? What if you knew it was such an enormous problem that it has the potential to destroy our crops and trees, the soil they are grown in, our entire water supply, and whole ecosystems - and that if you didn’t act, we could never turn back?
We are not talking about fracking, nuclear energy, or the oil industry. We’re not even talking about climate change.
What if it came into use in an insidious way, just as GMO foods have come into our food supply without our knowledge? What if it appeared to be harmless, but it wasn’t? And what if it were so cleverly woven into our culture that we didn’t even see it anymore? What if it were so masterfully stigmatized and wrapped in controversy that if you thought it strange or concerning, you’d be scorned or ignored?

It sounds like science fiction, but it’s not. It’s happening right above you, and it’s called “geo-engineering”.

You can find articles and debates in which scientists are proposing to “dim” the sun to slow down climate change, using a technique called “Solar Radiation Management” (SRM). Their concept is to mimic the dimming and cooling effects of a volcanic eruption and existing particulate pollution made by human activity. However, it has been out of the proposal stage for quite some time, and even though officials will not admit it, SRM is already in full-scale operation. SRM sounds like a viable solution to slowing climate change, and scientists have repeated how “cheap” it is over and over again. But it comes with a price. In fact, it comes with many.

Global climate engineering/geo-engineering programs are radically disrupting weather patterns, disrupting the hydrological cycle (causing drought in some areas, flooding others), destroying the ozone layer, and contaminating the entire planet with the toxic fallout from these atmospheric spraying operations. Climate engineering programs have been fully deployed for many years. There is a mountain of hard science data and film footage to back up this statement of fact.

If you’re concerned, go to Skyderalert.com and take a few minutes to view the trailer to “Look Up”, a newly released, award winning documentary, narrated by William Baldwin. It is an excellent introduction to the issue of ongoing climate engineering / geo-engineering.

We have included articles and information that will shine more light on this extremely important issue, one that is radically affecting our planet’s life support systems, and every one of us. Our only goal is that you will review what we have included, and we hope it will motivate your continued investigation of the completely illegal, unregulated, and incredibly devastating climate modification programs that are being conducted on a global scale.

Crikey, I guess I should do a more thorough preflight next time I fly if somehow this equipment is getting past me. I should also mention that I have done studies on said "geo-engineering", something that we in my local economy call either weather modification, or cloud seeding, and the aircraft used. They usually use aircraft like Cessna 340's and Beech King Airs for these operations. The chemistry behind it is also quite simple, and regulated should I mind you. To find the chemistry behind it, you have to look no further than the average high school chemistry class, to things like ionic bonds and different types of chemical reactions. Along with this brief yet important info I might add that civilians are the ones who've pioneered and dominated the cloud seeding market, as you may have gathered through your link for Weather Modification Inc. Another thing that I would like to bring forth to your attention is that I am a global person with a global view, and I am very curious to know why the governments of our world can not only spy on each other and debate about anything else, but no government has yet ratted another out on said accusation.
Cheers, Damien

I forgot to ask you, have you ever looked up at a passing jet and noticed that their contrails disappear, contrary to one of your major sources. So my recommendation to you is that you find a window, look up, find a jet and watch it. You will notice that as it passes, if the atmosphere is dry, the contrails will disappear quickly, but if the atmosphere is saturated, they can stay for extended periods of time, and even may move along with the winds aloft. This is due,to the fact that the contrails that leave engines at high altitudes are simply releasing water vapour, the very same that condenses to form the very water that you drink. All of this information is meant to educate you, not to spite you, just to ease the personal side of this topic.

i've got pictures of jets flying almost next to each other, one leaving a chemtrail, the other a contrail. the ones leaving chemtrails just keep coming back & forth. i've seen cold days that there is not one chemtrail in the sky, only contrails, and i'm talking -20 down here. there's a big difference. solar radiation management is spraying nano aluminum to reflect the suns rays away from us, how good can that be to breathe? it has to come down sooner or later. it's all coming down to a one world order, so anybody that tried to rat out someone else will just be stepped on like a bug.

Don't you think it's kinda ironic that a bunch of "Global Warming" researchers in Antarctica can't get home and have to be rescued because their ship got FROZEN INTO THE ICE. HA ! Dumb.

Or that I live (roughly)within the lower 48, and both colleges and public schools were closed on account that it is reaching -80 Fahrenheit?

Now, to be fair, I *do* recall seeing a pic from a few years back, of a jet, posted (99% sure it was on wunderground.com ; I casually looked for it just now but couldn't find it), that had what seemed to be quite clearly "chemtrails", not contrails. I pointed someone at the pic, and he said, "Contrails... so what?", to which I replied, "Ummm, don't contrails come from the *ENGINES*?".

Ie, this was a pic of a twinjet, yet the trails were clearly coming from *between* the engines and the wingtips. Ie, not condensation from the engines, nor wingtip vortices. In the pic, also pretty clearly shown, was a small "pipe" from the trailing edge of each wing where the trails were coming from.

Could a twinjet way high up be dumping fuel from a "dispenser" of sorts? Hell if I know. What it may have been, to this day I have no idea. If someone knows the plumbing of typical twinjets that knows what the pipes described above might be for, I'd be glad to put this mystery to rest once and for all.

dg1941 1
Bloke probably left the Auxillary Power Unit on, I know that if you leave that on at altitude that an odd contrail comes out of the tail.
dg1941
dg1941 1
Or it could have been the really nifty application called Microsoft PhotoShop.
clabo
Not the tail, but, as above, on the trailing edge of the wing, midway between the engine and the wingtip.

Then I suppose it could have been a fuel dump, but the physics of spraying from high altitude don't really add up economically. To spray such large areas would take obscene amounts of airplanes and extremely concentrated agents, not to mention a lot of it. The money involved would be obscene as well.

you got that right, glad they are folding up, sad part is that geo-engineering, solar radiation management, and stratospheric aerosol geo-engineering is still vamping up, spraying us like bugs............

It"s sad to see a company disappear after many long years. I spent many hours on most of their aircraft through-out the early years and retired with many wonderful years of experiences and friends. Of course, it was not perfect but it worked and provided a sound career that prepared me for future careers. To those whom I know and remember from pass working relationships, I hope you all are able take those "Zoner" experiences and turn them into positive experiences that prepare you for your future. There are many opportunities out there - please look for them and be positive.
