An ubsubstantiated source (sorry) states that an aircraft was pulled into the hangar with the APU running. Don't know if that's SOP or not.

I mean, it makes sense. But if Delta said there was a malfunction, then I dunno, because it the heat triggered it, the system did its job. Oh well, guess we will never know.

Party Time.... We can laugh, but I would say that there are a lot that are not... Those Engines are probably toast and that a/c is going to be out of service for sometime to come and maybe the Hangar as well... Not the first time something like that has happened.

Yea :( Hard times especially now that they airline is in downtime.

Actually probably now better than an other time... They have a lot of parked spares to pull from.

Well, at least the building and aircraft maintenance employee's will work during the shutdown.

Unintended foam activation happens much too often and the fire codes that mandate foam systems in a hangar for jet aircraft need to be rolled back.

I worked at a computer center that had 4 big iron mainframes in their shiny glass enclosed installation. It was a sight to behold. Beautiful. So much power, so much money. People weren't allowed to hang out in the 'glass box', and the week after I quit someone on third shift was caught banging his GF in the frigid room. Hah hah...

But also, not long after that, the halon system 'broke'. It flooded the glass box, and even over half of the building. A number of people had to be taken to the hospital because they couldn't get out quick enough. I imagine this incident in LA was crazy. At least in the Halon incident, it was ridiculous as no one knew how long they had to stay out of the building, and how to vent the Halon and where. Hysterical. Sorry I missed it.

Foam would be better I'd imagine. *shrug* Expensive. The Halon wasn't cheap...

Well, that hanger was old, anyhow, and what better way to get rid of that expensive to properly dispose cancer causing foam than a malfunction?

Apparently, this was a new hangar, as opposed to the old Western Airlines ones.
