Great video. I feel like this video really shows you a pilots eye view of what a normal approach on rwy 28L/R is suppose to look. Outstanding video capn hope to see more like this!

Oh, good, Karim! That was my intention. Thanks for the comment; I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I am a non aviator, a passenger category. How is landing in SFO different from landing on so many similar air fields, Saan Maarten , old Kai Tak , its successor Chek Lap Kok Airport (ref. google) , almost all air strips in the Caribbean , strips laid out on reclaimed sea and so on ? And in the days of instrumentation and virtual world how does it matter what is beneath you at a particular point of time ?

Hmm, apparently my answer to you got buried below. Here's my reply to your Q.:

Thank you for your reply, Er.A.K! You're right, it's not necessarily "different" than anywhere else. That said, landing at an unfamiliar airport in an unfamiliar plane can be challenging. Not necessarily saying that's a factor in 214, but it will be one issue the NTSB will explore.

THANK YOU for the THUMBS UP's! Apparently some didn't understand that it's NOT a Cockpit Vid from the actual crash. I never said it was, folks!
I am proud of this video and I hope you enjoy.
If you haven't, feel free to giver 'er a Thumbs Up if you like it!

Fairly perfect VDO. In time to come many years down the lane, some researchers will make much shorter simulated/animated VDO lasting under 20 sec and claim Ph.D. Ur VDO is longer . M I giving U ideas my friend ? ;-p

Thank you again, Er.A.K! U think I can snag a Ph.D. for this? I'm in, LOL! ;-)

Deceptive title, Eric. I see what you did there.

Hmm, Michael, I'm sorry you feel that way.

If you peruse my other vids and my blog, you would know I don't operate that way. The video is EXACTLY what I say it is, nothing more. I did change the vid title immediately after the first sign of criticism, to make clear what it IS and what it is NOT. If you went on further to read the description, again, you would know EXACTLY what it is about.

I'm sorry you've chosen to paint me as a bad guy here, as I worked very hard on making it an interesting, informative vid about a terrible tragedy. As a captain for a major airline, we are always striving for the truth, in order to prevent future mishaps of the kind.

Thank you for your input. I shall endeavor to make myself more clear in the future.

In this age of hi tech instrumentation, simulators and virtual images all that is necessary is that UR basics are clear. Rest, instruments will tell the real situation, like virtual image, distance, speed, rate of descent and height plus some more. If U falter on basics, then God help U ! Right? A fictional comparison - the movie " The Executive Decision " !

Eric A - Excellent video. It was particularly informative to have the chance to see the actual approach. By adding the accident photos I was able to get a real sense (as far as possible) of what happened.

Of course, there's many quesitons left to be answered, but I did my best to collate what is known at the time of video publication. Again, I don't pretend to solve the "Probably Cause", but did my best to show "what" is known to have happened during the crisis.

Apparently some children have orchestrated a "Thumbs Down" campaign on this video, because it's not a Cockpit Vid from the actual crash. I never said it was, folks. People apparently misread and ASSUME.

I am proud of this video. I think it's a well-done, informative vid that I hope you enjoy. As an airline pilot and video maker, I like to produce quality videos for you and have no intention of deceiving anyone.

I'm sorry for the issues, please giver 'er a Thumbs Up if you like it!
