27k to 46k....thats a huge change in wind speed especielly that close to the ground....just glad that kept everyone safe

Could this be a repeat of the JAL 747 tail strike that resulted in the quick fix to the bulkhead and then the crash of the same bird after it was "fixed"....

that was on a special about a month ago....really sad event....hopefully the higher ups will insist on this bird not being fixed in the same manner....if I recall wasn't the 747's repairs ok'd by Boeing field reps?

Typical insanity. Looking at the METARS I'd say they had a calmer period that may have lulled them abit then, wham, one more gust. Glad they made it...
