Well it appears he made it from Chino KCNO to Fullerton KFUL so he had some flying time. Glad he's ok.'s

Fullerton airport is where it all started for me as well as CNO. Living in the flight path of both LAX and FUL I spent many hours as a kid plane spotting, and sometimes I would knock on the tower door at FUL and they would let me up to watch and hear the traffic (early 70's) and years later I live near KCNO where I learned to fly in the 90's, two great airports if your're ever in So Cal

And yea I put a positive spin on this

They need to close Dale Ave and move the fence to the other side of the road. It is clearly unsafe where it is now.

AOPA was working on increasing airport security. Looks like they need to start promoting that again. At least it ended well. We are dealing with bored people with lower inhibitions. Security enhancement should be looked at. Why would the keys be accessible? No one asked who he was? No one reported the take-off? Did he actually use the radio and avoid official attention?

This is unfortunate, but should help raise security practice at small airports. I would have thought that the SEA theft and crash would have done that.
