Shortly before taking office last year, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador upended construction of a $13 billion airport for the nation’s capital. The glitzy, modernist project was riddled with corruption, AMLO said, and congestion could be eased more cheaply with a plan that included improvements for the existing hub. Very Sad story. As a Mexican I am embarrassed by the way that AMLO handles this type of issues. For sure there was corruption as in many other projects in the country but the way he handled the issue was totally wrong, irresponsible and unacceptable. The country needs the original airport project. Hopefully at some point the government will reconsider and restart the project.
