Paris’s Orly airport will shut down on Tuesday in light of the collapse in air traffic amid the coronavirus crisis.

Submitted
France’s biggest airport for domestic flights, Orly will be closed until further notice at midnight – after hosting just ten flights and around 1000 passengers on Tuesday, as the number of people taking flights has plunged thanks to the stringent measures adopted to try and contain the transmission of the coronavirus. Wow. Complete shutdown that’s big. But with Paris being served by two great massive fields, makes sense to close one - and the southern one at that - Any regional travellers have other options in the south at least:

Three years ago we had to fly THROUGH Orly on a Vacation Flight.. They treated Americans like we were CRIMINALS.. My Wife was FULL SEARCHED 3 times in 2 Flights. BECAUSE she has Muscular Distrophy and can not raise her right arm! Only Airport to do that in our 15 years of over 100 Flights together in 23 Countries! AND the FRENCH ARE RUDE PEOPLE!

My dad had the same experience at DCA from the TSA a couple of years ago. I'm pretty sure the TSA agents were not of French descent.

You DO realize I hope that it's the US Govt. that has demanded that happens on ALL flights to and from the US since 9/11? Even at Amsterdam airport and here in NZ, US flights have separate (far more stringent) security measures compared to the rest of the world.
So don't blame the french. Blame your own government.

You are right as I had found out decades ago that it was better to go out of my way to find flights on other airlines than fly on Air France due to the rudeness of the French air crews toward Americans.
