Hawaiian launches the longest interstate route of the United States
Honolulu - Hawaiian Airlines has launched the longest interstate route in the United States. From April 4, the airline began to fly between Honolulu International and Boston-Logan International Airport on a route of 4,427nm (8.200km). Any reason this is referred to as "interstate" instead of "domestic"?
My guess is that it’s because it’s not all within the US—much of it is over international waters.
I wondered that too. Perhaps to exclude flights to/from U.S. territories that aren’t states? Still, there aren’t any longer domestic flights than this from Guam or Puerto Rico as far as I know.
Yet still no non stop from Maui to Las Vegas.
