Gotta do what you gotta do. Dumping fuel was probably part of the protocol. It's all about safety.

It's hard being the new kid on the block! Can't even have a compressor stall without it going viral.

I haven't seen any United flights up this evening like they usually have. Possibly a grounding?

No grounding...N20904 on its way to SEA to get the passengers now. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N20904/history/20130619/1030Z/KIAH/KSEA

They may have picked up more passengers but their reason for diverting was an oil filter problem. this can happen to any a/c. Just because this is a 787 makes it news worthy... NOT! S^&* Happens.

Exactly - a Delta A330 from Athens to JFK diverted to Amsterdam yesterday for hydraulic problems, yet it didn't make the news. (http://www.avherald.com/h?article=4640b047&opt=0)

Oil filter indication prompted the crew to divert for a safe landing...the systems worked. Now United, Boeing and GE will figure out what caused the issue and address it.
