In honor of the 75th anniversary of Amelia Earhart's disappearance, The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery (TIGHAR) is setting out to search for Earhart's plane, the Electra, at Nikumaroro, an island in the western Pacific Ocean, where they believe Earhart was stranded and later died. Somwhere in all the hooplah about this expedition, not necessarily in this video, but they have talked about them landing safely on that reef, and the plane eventually getting washed out with the tide.They say there are some unexplained radio calls and they say that the radio was used until the tide got the plane. That's all well and good but they say the plane had to run in order to generate power for the radio. DID THEY JUST DECIDE THEY WERE TOO LOW ON FUEL AND SET DOWN THERE, having a little left, RATHER THAN DITCH AS EVERYONE THINKS???? That certainly dispels a lot of the previous theories.
