Submitted
Here's something that you never really run across eBay or Craigslist: the real Air Force One airplane. As in the freaking flying aircraft that has freaking transported freaking Presidents of the freaking United States of America in the freaking air. (gizmodo.com) More...

Buying an older jet of any type is the cheap part of the equation. Besides, with all the BS and lies that have been spoken in this machine it's bound to have bad juju. Lol

Plus, given the pax hauled, many members have probably been inducted into the Mile-High Club on this thing, so it will definitely need a new interior haha

Hugh Hefner had a DC9-32 called the Big Bunny at one time. Now that is a plane I'd like to own!

They do not say its junk.... From the article "it looks kind of rundown".... Would be a good flyer once made airworthy... Great for you and the little wife on those getaway weekends and you yourself said you like the old steam gages... LOL

I live in AZ and have flown over to IWA many times and have seen this plane there. It's been sitting outside there for I don't know how long exactly but it seems like quite a while now. In fact there are two of them there. If you find the airport on Google Earth you will see them or here on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/jackmcgo210/6170564933/

Actually, you couldn't keep that livery as it is officially a US military livery. HOWEVER, if you remove the "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the roundel on the engine nacelles, you can keep the rest of the colors.

Did a president really take a ride on this crate? I recall Algore coming to Wilmington NC (ILM) on a DC-9 but never heard of a president to ride on anything except one of the 742s.

In fact, ANY military aircraft flown by the President is referred to as Air Force One (if an AF plane), Navy One (if Navy--think of George W. Bush who flew onto the aircraft carrier during the Iraq War) or Marine One (usually the helicopter but technically any Marine aircraft). The two VC-25s that sit at Andrews AFB (KADW) are what most people think of when the press talks about Air Force One.

Did anyone else think this was spam at first?

No, Have seen other items that looked funny that were true. But it is definitely the ability to own something that no one else has.

will Uncle Sam be part of the package (!) ? ;-p
And will it be sprayed with the fragrance used by the First Lady before delivery ? :-)

Wow, I hope they don't spray it with "Skunk Spray Number 9" That would certainly devalue the plane.
