I cannot help but wonder why it takes 6 months to sentence somebody. On top of that, in this case, he pleaded guilty to boot. Get it done and over with. That's stupid.

The system is all about money and time. which both equal eachother.

Clearly you seem to be ignorant of law and its working, irrespective of the country.
Even a confessional statement has to be corroborated by independent evidence to exclude any element of any kind of 'confession under duress' ! I wonder how often have you had an occasion to see a conviction based on confession being successfully challenged and over turned in courts of appeal? Why and and how? Police is known all over the world about their ways to get a confession!
About 6 months? The concerned agencies (prosecutors, local police, defense counsel, Courts) do not have just one case to handle.
Its time to give you(and all readers) two interesting sayings about legal system.
"Justice delayed is justice denied."
A well known saying. But what about the following?
"Justice hurried is justice buried !"
So please do pause and ponder.

Please join law classes to understand the classification of offences and difference between a traffic offence and other classes of offences.
Also learn about what is a compoundable offence and what is not!
And you will get the proper answer, not to mention about many more answers that you will get to unasked questions.

Your forte` is the law and mine is flying and on some of the technicalities of the law I do not profess to understand, just as by your admission, you do not understand all about aircraft and I have to look at it from the aspect of a layman as do most folks not in your profession. I understand your comparisons about justice. That said, just in simple terms, as case is docketed, perp is guilty, either by confession or trial, and sentencing put off til later. Our courts are clogged and overworked. Why not get it all out the way in one fell swoop while it is docketed and be done with it. It is that delay that gives the legal profession a bad name in the eyes of the rest of the world.

My humble suggestion to you. Do not give expert comments on a subject that is not your forte. I have stated some of the finer aspects of Law and Legal system in a way for non legal person to understand.
Counter queries? Well, then there is only one course left. Law classes.
My indulgence in aviation? A person with some common sense in the fields of engineering and management.
And a curious mind.

I don't consider that an expert comment. It is as I said. That is a common perception, and one more of frustration than anything. You must note, however, that there were several comments more or less expressing that same frustration. As an expert in law, you explained the reason why. That does not mean we have to like it.lol

I am no 'expert' of law, nor do I aim to become. Law is more dynamic than you can imagine. Every minute a new interpretation is emerging, all over the world. A simple layman's example. What was 'obscene' 50 years ago is not so today. How and why? Social evolution. And law and legal system are part of society.
I try to clear up some of the misgivings prevailing amongst people about law and legal system. I succeed? I fail? Not for me to judge.
So no more dilation please!

This is an aviation site, not a bs law site. You need to stop being so dramatic in your posts. It is very annoying!!!

It's an aviation site. Let non aviation reference be avoided. I am here to learn a vee bit about aviation, as a non aviator.

I am a practicing lawyer. And know the basics of law and how law works. I have also indulged in areas of "what law ought to be". If it means any thing to you. You know aviation, I know law plus some more.
So, I again request non lawyers to refrain from making any less than 'intelligent' reference to law.
Do not abuse this public forum just because every one here is a faceless person.
PLEASE.

Right you are my friend. Stick to what you guys are good at. Do not fool with some thing alien to you people.
I am sure none of you 'experts' of aviation will tolerate or accept any wrong or irrational comment, like if I were to say that the pilot coulda or shoulda tried to take off when the nose wheel collapsed and later he could try belly landing on foam!
Will it make sense? No. Definitely no.
Same with law. Please give it a go by. Do not make sweeping and on top of it wrong remarks without knowing an iota of law.
You love and cherish your profession, and I, mine.
I just aim to roam on this forum as a passenger. No more , no less. So let me enjoy it that way.
Please.
I hope you will understand..

There you go again with the drama... You know years ago there was a reason why doctors crashed Bonanzas, and today clueless lawyers terrorize the skies in Cirruses. They just don't listen!!!
