Methinks the camel has his nose under the tent.

The Middle East is situated well geographically for global travel, but beyond major cities in the rich markets of the Americas Middle East carriers have not been able to penetrate domestic markets in any substantial manner. Buying local airlines (with our money stolen by oil cartels) is an effective way to build a route network.

They will continue to provide fuel at a fat discount, provide superlative service, and use that competitive advantage to eviscerate major carriers like AA, DL, and UA.

America would do well to charge for our military services on the same basis as the cartels price oil. Currently a $4 investment yields $50. If a few dollars were to flow our way perhaps America could have a few airports like Dubai on our soil.

A special note to Doug Parker: Unless you want to lose your "Head Honcho Stetson" to a man who wears a dress, you should step up the service level, stop the deceptive pricing schemes, and give passengers planes and schedules they really want, that is a real possibility. No one wants to fly transcontinental on a 737 or an A320. Step it up over there, quality is where the market wants to go.
