Australia's youngest female pilot Jade Esler flies solo at 15

Submitted
She's too young to drive a car, but Jade Esler is Australia's youngest female pilot. The year 9 student made her maiden solo flight at Fly Oz school in Cowra on her 15th birthday last week. (www.smh.com.au) More...

Congratulations!!! Good for her!! She's also an entrepreneur, paying for her own lessons!!! She also must have great parents!!!! A nice story!! Best of luck in her aviation career!!!!

I agree completely. Doing it on her own and at $300 an hour! I guess in 40 years $300 an hour will look as cheap as the J-3 I rented at North Perry for $8 an hour - wet. I wish her the best in her life and career.

Not raining on anyone's parade here, but you could be the youngest pilot anywhere if you solo at the minimum age. Also student, not pilot...
Let the down-votes begin!!!

Did you solo on your fifteenth birthday? Self funded? If not two "yes"s, then just quietly back away from the keyboard.

Sure, but at an age where most kids are hanging out with friends and playing video games, getting to first solo is quite an accomplishment and shows a lot of maturity and drive. Good for her!

It's definitely great for her, but apart from the clear discrimination of the article on the gender of the young pilot student, I would also say that age limits in driving are there for a reason. Shouldn't there be similar limits in flying?
I can't judge on flying, but many people would be able to drive solo at a very young age, if they were allowed to.
