Allegiant to add seasonal air service between Anchorage and Washington state

Las Vegas-based discount airline Allegiant will add seasonal nonstop service between Anchorage and Bellingham, Washington, the company announced Tuesday.

The service will start May 22 with introductory fares as low as $59 each way. The routes will operate twice weekly between Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and Bellingham International Airport.

Bellingham is about 90 miles north of Seattle and about 50 miles south of Vancouver, British Columbia.

The new service marks Allegiant’s first time flying any route to Alaska, a spokesperson said.

“Direct service between Anchorage and Bellingham provides a great new option for Alaska’s visitors, especially since the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada are key markets for Anchorage visitation,” Visit Anchorage president Julie Saupe said in a statement.

The announcement came “as part of a broader 16-route expansion” for Allegiant, USA Today reported.

For the introductory fares, customers need to purchase flights by Jan. 16 for travel by Aug. 13, the company said.
