A Jet2.com Boeing 737-800, registration G-JZBC performing flight LS-1202 from Lanzarote,CI (Spain) to Birmingham,EN (UK) with 194 people on board, was enroute at FL380 about 200nm southsouthwest of Faro (Portugal) when the captain decided to divert the aircraft to Faro due to the first officer feeling unwell. The aircraft landed safely about 30 minutes later.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration G-GDFS positioned to Faro, departed Faro about 5 hours after touchdown of G-JZBC and is estimated to reach Birmingham with a delay of about 5.5 hours.

The airline reported the first officer felt unwell prompting the diversion to Faro. The first officer was okay, it was not clear whether he had been taken to a hospital.

Faro emergency services reported they responded with 34 emergency vehicles and 81 rescue personnell to the medical emergency and blocked a traffic lane between airport and hospital for emergency vehicles only, the hospital called in their stand by staff.

The occurrence aircraft departed Faro about 15 minutes after G-GDFS and is currently positioning back to the UK.
