A plane crash at the Hastings Municipal Airport is being investigated.

Hastings Police said an Ameriflight plane skidded off the runway into a field during landing at 7: 49 a.m. Friday.

The two pilots on board the plane were not injured and there were no other injuries reported.

Airport officials say the investigation is being left to the Federal Aviation Association (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

They said smoke was coming from the engine of the plane, but there was no fire as initially reported.

The airport is closed, except for medical flights, because of debris on the runway.

Airport officials say this plane goes in and out of the airport once a day carrying UPS packages.

When NTV News reached out to UPS, they declined to comment because of the ongoing investigation.

Hastings Fire Chief said he is unsure as to when the cause of the accident will be determined.

This is a developing story and we will update the story as information becomes available.
