ENUMCLAW, Wash. - One person remains in critical condition and another person is in serious condition after a small plane crashed into a park in Enumclaw Thursday night, nearly hitting a playground.

A third victim in the crash has been upgraded to satisfactory condition as of Friday morning, according to the nursing supervisor at Harborview Medical Center.

It was around 9 p.m. when the Cessna 172 crashed near the Enumclaw Airport just off of 244th Avenue Southeast.

One witness says he heard a loud thud and ran out of his house and saw the crash. Another says they ran out and tried to help the victims.

"We heard a sound, it wasn't followed by an explosion, but it was definitely a 'thud'-type sound," said Darren Rawie.

Two people were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in downtown Seattle, a spokesperson with the Enumclaw Fire Department says. The third person was taken to Harborview by ambulance.

There is no word yet what caused the plane to crash.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating. An FAA spokesperson told KOMO News the plane was not currently registered with the FAA, although it may have been in the process of being registered. They will determine for sure during the investigation.
