And another 5 * click, Sam. Amazing! You took this 50 YEARS ago, using film, a picture of a moving airborne aircraft, from a distance, in a war-zone environment, and yet your photo here is so clear that it is possible to read five of the six numerals in the registration. Heck, this half-century-old shot of yours is better quality than some of the blurry and fuzzy junk being posted by photographers today who are using 21st century digital cameras; cameras that literally take no skill to use because the technology in the camera does ALL the work. Super photo here, Sam. (A tip of my hat to you.)
.....
Incidentally, the reg number on this one is N72?PA. That one number is somewhat indistinct: to me, it looks like it is either a "0," a "4," or a "6." If it is N720PA, it is "Clipper Fairwind"; if it is N724PA, it is "Clipper Mercury"; and if it is N726PA, it is "Clipper Westward Ho."
.....
Added note: The name "Clipper Fairwind" was later assigned to another Pan Am fleet aircraft, a B747.
