Thanks for the histology. But, what is setting for prop speed whirrrr? I usually shoot moving aviation in auto w/200mm or 18.135mm lens. So you shoot fast motion in manual setting??

Hi Diana,

For aircraft flying, I usually try to get the shutter as fast as possible (unless it's a prop plane or helicopter, then I shoot SHUTTER PRIORITY around 1/320 to get prop blur). I almost always use the manual mode shooting jets. Using the cameras light meter, I get the speed and aperture close then let the camera select the ISO. On a bright day I may be shooting 1/8000 F5.6 ISO 500. I also shoot with the most frames per second available on the particular camera.

I hope that helps!

To this day I still can't fathom how that complex undercarriage folds away into such a svelte body as the F-16, with the intake plumbing for that massive engine twisting above and around it. It's aeronautical engineering genius!

Great photo! Perfect symmetry! Kudos

I was doing some preliminary work getting ready to do a hangar door replacement at Fort Smith ANG base. There was an empty tube F-16 in the hangar (engine out). I asked the guardsman if I could take a look and he said, "Look all you want. . . just don't remember!"

Great photo and thanks for photography details.
