N5865V — - After 23 YEARS of restorative work, "Semper Fi," a North American B-25J Mitchell bomber (formerly 44-30988, now N5865V) is seen here on display at the Truckee-Tahoe Airport Family Air Fest yesterday (9 July 2016). Beautifully painted in honor of Marine Bombing Squadron 611 ("MB 11"), "Semper Fi" first flew again just two months ago (in May, 2016) after a dedicated restoration project by the Commemorative Air Forces So California Wing in Camarillo, CA. Best viewed by clicking on the "FULL" size option, this snapshot of N5865V / 44-30988, the only PBJ-1J model known to be flying today, is the first picture of it to be presented in FAs gallery.

Of course, I have other clicks of this wonderfully restored WWII warbird, and I will post more of them. However, even though this shot was taken into the shaded side of the Mitchell, I wanted to post this pic first because the name "Semper Fi" is on this side. My other photos were taken with the sun behind me so they will show "Semper Fi" in full light.

Sam P., Tom, and Sam K. >> Hi guys. :) Thanx for the comments. (Thumbs Up)
Sam P. >> I sent a better pic of this one to all my email contacts yesterday. Some have already let me know they received it. Should be in your Inbox. (Wave)
Alien >> Hey, Tom. I'm going to be scooting over to Sacto for a day of spotting. If you are interested in meeting, let me know a couple of "open" dates and I'll schedule my one-day "over the hill and back again" trip for one of those days.
Sam K. >>> Howyahbeen, my friend? Happy to see you back for sure. I've sent emails but no reply. I thought you'd evaporated into thin air or something. Hey, I've got another (better) click of this beauty that I sent out to all my FA buddies via email. I haven't heard back yet from all of them but some have replied. I'll send it to you via email so keep an eye open for it, k? Great to see you here on FA. ;-)
