Short Sandringham (VH-BRC) - Sunderland/Sandringham conversion Beachcomber taking off from Lord Howe Island c. 1974 - one of the last flights on the Rose Bay service. Departure from Rose Bay depended on arriving at Lord Howe lagoon at high tide. Island airstrip was being built at this time and later serviced Fokker Friendship from Sydney, ending Flying Boat commercial services in Australia.
