Any changes to cockpit panel or would that be sacrilege?

I was a crew chief on a Gooney bird (DC-3, C-47) while at my last duty station before getting out of the Air Force in 1966, and I really enjoyed that plane.

I had the chance once to fly a short ride around Jacksonville Florida Sponcared by the airfreight co. my daughter was working for @ the time. I must say comppared to today's airliners, This was without a doubt one noisyest plane & you seemed to walk uphill when going forward inside the plane. What a Thrill is was & I enjoyed every second & wished the flight had been longer.

My late father-in-law flew these in the Berlin Airlift (and in the U.S also--once relating having flown the Benny Goodman band to a military engagement. They were complaining about the flight so he dropped down lower over the hills in California where it was good and bumpy--they shut up and clung to their seats in fear!)
As a B-24 pilot he said "it was comforting to know that you had a DC-3 on each wing." (2 1830's per side).
An interesting sidelight: Popular Mechanics published an article on the DC-3 60 years ago. I remember reading it--it was a legend then!

Empress of the skies!

This one was built in 1937, I am only three years older than that plane, and it is getting around just great, Me not so much.
